About UsSpreading Love from Uncommon Places is a project aimed to educate people about rehabilitation in correctional facilities. The issues of prisoners is greatly overlooked in this country due to the lack of media attention and prejudices the general public has against inmates. Most people have lost sight of the purpose of prisons which is to rehabilitate criminals and make them functioning citizens. These people are human beings and should treated as such and have the means to turn there life around. Our goal is to help enlighten people and raise awareness about the benefits of rehabilitation programs in prisons.

History |
This project was started by local high school students. It began when Alex Rensing, a student of Lutheran High School North, got a box of knitted goods from a correctional facility in Saginaw, MI. The package was from her grandfather who would annually send these items. He knitted due to a program that was designed to help him cope with prison life. She then had the idea to donate to charities and non for profits aimed at children. Alex and other students would go out and hand out teddy bears, hats, mittens, etc... Alex broadened her project and start raising awareness about prisons and rehabilitation.
